She’s definitely much harder than I expected. Part of the mental exhaustion might be because there’s no card art yet, forcing you to read every card. The scry mechanic also adds much more mental work if you’re trying to play optimally on high difficulties. There’s also so much setup/planning involved in setting up your big turns. the lack of consistent stat scaling makes it so that you never seem to reach a point where you’re “safe” in a fight. In general it feel like there's very little interaction with the Stances themselves outside of the debatably useful cards like ] and ].Īs others have said already, she requires a lot of setup and combos but she lacks ways to mitigate damage early while setting up becaue of her rather weak defense cards, which is even more reason why Vigilance should give Block instead of drawing you cards. Cards like ] could have an additional effect if you're in Calm instead of while you're in Wrath and it would feel way better to use those cards. It's supposed to be the defensive preparation stance but there are no cards which give you an additional benefit for being in Calm Stance. It also doesn't "feel good" to be in Calm Stance, because there are no cards that directly interact with you being in Calm Stance. Imo Vigilance should have given Block instead of drawing you cards. I rarely if ever play during Act 1 because you just don't have a reason to pay 2 Energy to draw 2 Cards which you won't even use because you don't have the Energy for them. I feel like the biggest problem with her is just how terribly unplayable ] is in most scenarios. Overall she is probably the weakest charqctwr, but it keeps the game fresh and they added some new relics (three are not good though). She has really crazy combos and you can do some neat things.īrainy character which I like personally. Seems like she is not great on high ascension right now. Has some cards that are straight up bad like ] and ] and ] She only has 3 cards that apply debuffs and one is conditional and one exhausts. Not great common defense cards, makes the early game hard since she has the lowest health and probably the worst mitigation. It is a 2 cost draw two, then you have to play a card to exit the stance, which usually costs 1 (or 2 with starter deck) to refund the 2 energy. One is imo one of the worst cards in the game. Divinity, retain and wrath, windmill, stance change bursting (mostly wrath), and omega. beautiful, precise and filled with dark delights" in his Recommended review last year.I'll start with the bad. ![]() That's a bit of a bargain for a game that Eurogamer's Christian Donlan called "gorgeous. To celebrate the update's arrival on PC, Slay the Spire is currently discounted by 50% on Steam, putting the price at £9.74 instead of the usual £19.49. It's expected to arrive on Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and Switch following a "small delay". #Slay the spire the watcher updateThe complete list, plus a run-down of all other enhancements, fixes, and additions arriving as part of update 2.0, can be found in the latest patch notes.Īt present, Slay the Spire 2.0 is only available on PC, but Mega Crit says porting work has already begun for console versions of the game. #Slay the spire the watcher fullTo accommodate the significant influx of new potions, Mega Crit has added a Potion Lab screen in the game's Compendium, providing full details of each. Slay the Spire 2.0's other big additions come in the form new relics and potions, bestowing various effects on players. The Watcher is Slay the Spire's fourth playable hero, joining the Ironclad, Silent, and Defect. Calm, meanwhile, awards two Energy when the stance is left. While in the wrath stance, for instance, The Watcher will deal double damage but will receive double damage from opponents too. The gist is that certain cards can be used to adopt one of four stances - calm, wrath, divinity, and neutral - that bring certain benefits and disadvantages when deployed. ![]() The Watcher can scry and retain cards, but it's those stances, a gameplay mechanic unique to the character, that really sets her apart from other playable heroes. The big news addition, though, is The Watcher, a "blind ascetic" who "brings her training in the divine stances and a seeing staff to cast judgment upon the wicked Spire spawn". ![]() #Slay the spire the watcher freeSlay the Spire's free new update is significant enough to warrant the version number 2.0 and brings a list of balance changes and bug fixes long enough to require some hearty scrolling to get through.
